Doechii is taking a moment to exhale out her haters ahead of 2026, with her new single.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, Doechii and SZA released a single together called "girl, get up.", marking the second collaboration between the female artists. The two first worked together on Doechii's 2022 single, "Persuasive."
The new track, released alongside a music video, addresses accusations from content creators and other musicians, like Kanye West, that Doechii is an "industry plant." The derogatory term is used to describe a "lab-grown, focus-grouped and reverse-engineered" artist who has been "anointed" for success by industry power players, according to GQ.
Doechii and SZA released a new single, "girl, get up." on Dec. 30, 2025.
"All that industry plant shit whack," Doechii raps in the single's second verse. "Y'all can't fathom that I worked this hard. And y'all can't fathom that I earned this chart."
Over the past year, Doechii has quickly gained mainstream fame. In 2024, she released "Alligator Bites Never Heal," which won the 2025 Grammy for Best Rap Album and led to her sold-out, nationwide "Live from the Swamp Tour." She was also featured on Tyler, the Creator's popular 2024 track "Balloon."
This year alone, Doechii received five Grammy nominations for her hit single, "Anxiety," including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song and Record of the Year.
In a video shared on social media in May, Kanye West is seen talking on the phone about the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef, briefly questioning who Doechii is, and agreeing with the other person on the line that she is an industry plant.
Video game streamers like Rani Netz, known online as Stable Ronaldo, and Adin Ross have also spread the industry plant narrative.
"I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know why it's so hard for people to admit they're an industry plant. It's a very easy concept," Netz said during a recent livestream, reshared by social media users. "When you sign to a label, when you sign with an agency, when you sign with anything, certain people are bad, they have bad intentions. They try to push you so hard to the point where they cheat the system. That's a real thing."

What is the internet saying about 'girl, get up.'?
While Doechii may have her haters, the rapper's fans have been quick to show support, especially for the collaboration with SZA.
"I've already listened to this 100 times btw (by the way)," Canadian drag queen Venus Sherwood commented on Doechii's Instagram post announcing the single.
U.S. rapper and singer Doechii attends the BET Awards 2025 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California on June 9, 2025.
Doechii's fans have been quick to respond to criticisms of her new song, namely pointing out white content creators, such as Adin Ross and Netz, take on a Black woman in the music industry, something the rapper even mentions in "girl, get up.," calling the allegations against her an "agenda."
"Y'all have no place nor I feel like knowledge to be speaking on Black culture, let alone rap because Doechii is rap," creator LoLo Vonz said. "I hate that they feel so comfortable enough to give such disrespectful commentary. If ... you tuned in to Black content, Black women ... you would know she was on the come up for a long time."
To dispel industry plant rumors, many Doechii fans cite the rapper's long-standing YouTube channel, which includes videos she posted as far back as 2015. For years, Doechii posted vlog-style videos to YouTube before regularly posting music content around 2019.
