Over the years, US President Donald Trump has often taken jabs at Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle. He recently took a dig at the Duchess of Sussex when a reporter asked the President about Harry’s plea to the U.S. to end the Ukraine war. And Trump’s reply, an expert believes, would have “antagonized” the former actress.

King Charles has wrapped up his four-day visit to the United States with the engagements in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and New York. During this visit, the monarch did not make a trip to the West Coast to meet his estranged son, Prince Harry, his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, or his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet.
Although the father and son could not meet during the high-profile visit, Harry might be “quietly proud of the way Charles skilfully delivered some quite pointed and political ripostes to the things Trump has been saying,” feels former BBC royal commentator Jennie Bond, per Mirror. The expert even believes that the Duke of Sussex “stands united with his father on the need to support Ukraine.” However, Trump’s recent dig at Markle at the meeting comes with consequences.

The President has been engaged in a war of words online with Markle for several years. When a reporter recently asked Trump about his thoughts on Harry’s plea to the U.S. to end the Ukraine war, Trump responded, “Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife?” before adding, “Please give her my regards.”
Trump then said that the Duke of Sussex “is not speaking for the U.K. That’s for sure,” adding, “I think I’m speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice.”
“Of course, outside the immediate environs of the visit, it has offered Trump the opportunity to sling a few more insults in the Sussex‘s direction – particularly at Meghan. And that will have further antagonised the couple,” said the expert. Bond added that while the monarch’s visit has “undoubtedly gone some way to improving relations between the United States and the UK, it has done nothing to help the relationship between the President and Harry and Meghan.”
