Jelly Roll Shocks With Trump Comments as He Hosts ‘Kimmel’

Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewers were left confused on Monday night (August 24) after guest host Jelly Roll took multiple jabs at President Donald Trump, even though many believed he was a MAGA supporter.
The country singer, who is guest-hosting the late-night show while Kimmel is on summer hiatus, spent part of his opening monologue mocking the president. At one point, he even joked about Trump’s weight and laughed at his cratering poll numbers.
“Let’s talk about the main event of America this weekend. It was the big IndyCar race hosted by the president,” Jelly Roll said while playing footage from the event. “The cars drove through the streets of D.C., and there’s Donald Trump, who apparently has never held a flag before.”
“What a s*** job! How do you f*** up waving a flag?” the “Save Me” singer continued.
The digs didn’t stop there, as Jelly Roll quipped, “But the president seemed to enjoy the IndyCar race, which was a real switch-up for him, because normally he only likes his own race.”
“Trump also drove around the track in his motorcade, doing what they call the lap of honor, which sounds like a loyalty program at a strip club,” he added. “Five percent cash back in the champagne room for all Lap of Honor members!”
Jelly Roll then turned his attention to the president’s weight, joking, “Sadly, those are the only laps Trump’s been doing lately.” He noted how Trump has gained 14 pounds since his last physical, “which means he’s now tipping the scales at almost 240.”
“It’s crazy… think about this, y’all, in the last few years, I’ve lost 300 lb,” he shared. “That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump. And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing.”
The “I Am Not Okay” hitmaker then said we should chill on poking fun at the president’s weight because “he would never do that to other people.” He then aired a montage of Trump insulting people for being “fat slobs.”
“Well, if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle fat,” Jelly Roll said.
The reaction to Jelly Roll’s monologue was one of shock, as many assumed the singer was a big Trump fan. “Wait, hold up. Isn’t Jelly Roll MAGA? I’m very confused right now,” wrote one YouTube commenter.

While many assumed Jelly Roll was MAGA, the singer previously stated he has no political affiliation. “It is important to establish earlier that I am a musician and that I have no political alliance,” he said before Congress while giving testimony about the fentanyl crisis in 2024, per TheWrap.
“I am neither Democrat nor Republican,” he continued. “In fact, because of my past, my right to vote has been restricted. Thus far, I have never paid attention to a political race in my life. Ironically, I think that makes me the perfect person to speak about this.”
