Kate Gosselin addressed comments about her estranged son Collin Gosselin and his invitation for her to take a lie detector test
Collin alleged abuse by Kate in a recent interview and plans to detail his claims in an upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood
The Gosselin family rose to fame on Jon & Kate Plus 8, which documented their lives before Kate and Jon's 2009 divorce
Kate Gosselin responded to several comments about her estranged son Collin Gosselin and addressed whether she would take a lie detector test in the comment section of a new TikTok video shared on Monday, June 29.
Kate, 51, shared the video to discuss updates about her rescue dog, Koda, and ask her followers if they had experienced the same minor foot injury that she has. Several people had questions about her son Collin, 22, recently appearing on a podcast and inviting his mother to partake in a lie detector test ahead of the release of his bombshell memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.
"If you are 100% certain that the accusations against you are lies, my suggestion would be to take him to court and sue him for defamation!" one person wrote in the comment section.
"I can't bc I'm a public figure," Kate replied. "Rules are different unfortunately. Or I def would!"
In a subsequent response, Kate appeared to address a fan who asked whether she would take a lie detector test: "Ha!"
"Malice is one of the hardest things to prove. I tried :(," Kate continued in another comment.
"The rules are different for ppl in the public eye," she added. "I consulted a high power LA attorney (you've definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that's what he said. The courts don't honor it if you're in the public eye :("
The exchanges come after Collin appeared on Strange McKnights' YouTube channel for an interview about his memoir and family life. Among the shocking claims about Kate and his upbringing is Collin's allegation that his mother once used zip ties on his wrists and ankles and locked him in a basement.

"But I'm not going to talk much on that because I'm putting all this in a tell- all that I'm writing right now and we will be going into detail on every single thing," Collin said after recounting the story.
"However, speaking on the topic of zip ties, if I may add a thought, I know you're probably going to ask about this, but I did just say on social media that I would like to invite my mom to do a lie detector test," Collin said. "And that would be one of the questions, mom, if you're listening to this, we would ask about the zip ties."
Also on Saturday, Collin shared a headline from the New York Post about Kate on his Instagram Stories that read, "Kate Gosselin 'spiraling' ahead of estranged son Collin's bombshell memoir: 'She knows it's about to hit the fan.' "
Collin used a filter to blur out his mom's face and shared a comment from a follower that read, "What's done in darkness will always come to light," PEOPLE previously reported.

The two share 21-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin, as well as 24-year-old twins Mady and Cara. The family's lives in Pennsylvania were documented for two years on the hit series.
