King Charles and Queen Camilla are getting a taste of an American block party.

On Thursday, April 30, the royals stepped out in the historic town of Front Royal, Virginia, for a block party celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence. The stop came on the couple's last day of their visit to the country.

Virginia's Governor Abigail Spanberger was on hand to greet King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, at the celebration, which included a parade of marching bands, cheerleaders, the town’s local community trolley and classic British and American cars making their way down Main Street.

There was also a potluck underway, with community potluck meals taking place across America this year as part of a national America250 initiative. King Charles and Queen Camilla even brought a British dish to contribute: a coronation quiche. The British Embassy shared a video on social media about the quiche, which includes spinach, beans, cheddar and tarragon.

In the town square, the royals met a number of local groups, including charities supporting survivors of domestic abuse and first responders, as well as young people taking part in scout groups and the Virginia State Little League team, fresh from their state championship win last summer.

There will also be an agricultural display, including Welsh-origin Kerry Hill sheep which are being bred in the region, alongside beekeepers, flower farmers and young people taking part in the Future Farmers of America program, which provides aspiring farmers with agricultural education and experience.

Performances of bluegrass music and traditional Appalachian clog dancing will bring to life the region’s Scots-Irish heritage dating back to the 18th century.

Earlier in the trip, King Charles poked fun at past U.S.-U.K. relations, saying in his address to Congress that the "shared history" between the nations could be dubbed A Tale of Two Georges, referring to President George Washington and his five-times great-grandfather, King George III.

"King George never set foot in America and, please rest assured, I am not here as part of some cunning rearguard action!" the monarch said to laughs.

The King and Queen are wrapping up the final leg of their trip to the U.S., which began on Monday, April 27 when they arrived in Washington, D.C.

While in the nation's capital, they attended several events alongside President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump. The visit, timed to the 250th anniversary of American independence, was described as "high-stakes" amid tensions between the two countries.

On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla were greeted by the Trumps with a private tea before the royals headed to a massive garden party.

The next day, the King made history as only the second-ever British monarch to deliver an address to a joint meeting of Congress, following his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth. They also attended a lavish state dinner on Tuesday evening.

King Charles and Queen Camilla then headed to New York City for the second leg of their U.S. trip.

There, they spent Wednesday, April 29, stepping out for a series of engagements, including an afternoon visit to One World Trade Center to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

After their U.S. trip wraps up, King Charles will head to Bermuda for his first trip as monarch to an overseas British territory.
