Lisa Kudrow appeared on Mayim Bialikās podcast for a two-part conversation in July as a genuine fan
During their interview, Kudrow opened up about spirituality, intuition and mysterious events following her motherās death
Bialik says the podcast explores the intersection of science, spirituality and mental health with curiosity and openness
Mayim Bialik wasnāt expecting Lisa Kudrow to slide into her DMs.
However, an unexpected message from the Friends star, 63, turned into something even better ā a guest appearance on Bialikās podcast, Mayim Bialikās Breakdown, where the actresses dove into some surprisingly deep and decidedly unconventional topics.
Bialik, 50, tells PEOPLE that Kudrow first reached out after becoming a fan of the podcast, which explores science, spirituality, mental health and some of lifeās biggest unanswered questions.
āWe recently did an episode with Lisa Kudrow, actually it was two episodes,ā Bialik recalls. āThe fact that Lisa Kudrow slid into my DMs to tell me that sheās a fan of the podcast and wanted to talk, and she then agreed to come on the podcast to talk about her favorite episodes of the podcast... Thatās one of the more surreal moments weāve had on our podcast.ā
The experience was particularly meaningful to the Big Bang Theory actress because Kudrow wasnāt simply stopping by to promote a new project. Instead, she came on as a genuine fan, ready to discuss the episodes and ideas that had stuck with her.
āShe speaks very freely about a variety of things that a lot of people have been coming out of the shadows to talk about,ā Bialik says. āI felt very inspired by someone whoās such a prominent public person and beloved comedian and actress being able to talk about these things, because I think itās important that weāre having these conversations.ā
In the two-part conversation, released in July, Kudrow opened up about experiences surrounding her motherās death, including mysterious messages she received after her passing, as well as her interest in questions surrounding consciousness and what may exist beyond what science can currently explain.
The conversation got especially personal when Kudrow recalled what happened after her mother died in 2020.
āMy mother passed away in 2020,ā Kudrow explained. āWhen she passed, she flew around and woke everybody up. I donāt think thatās weird at all. Except she didnāt wake me up. Iām left out of things a lot. Am I just really annoying? The next day people are texting. It said in all caps, āMOM.ā I didnāt write that. And then another text, āMOM.ā My friend went, āLisa, your mom texted you.ā ā
She continued, āDonāt you ever feel like thereās something that you just know and thereās no reason you should know it?ā

In the second installment, TheComeback actress addressed childhood experiences she described as claircognizance and a remote-viewing experience involving her husband in Joshua Tree. She also talked about intuition, spirituality, energy healing and why she believes spoken language may be more limited than we realize.
For Bialik, whose own background includes a Ph.D. in neuroscience, the conversation represents exactly the kind of intersection she has wanted the podcast to explore.
āIāve been podcasting for many, many years,ā Bialik says. āWhen we first started, I thought it was crazy that my partner, Jonathan, wanted us to be a video podcast. So I had to do a very big, āYou were right,ā because clearly this is a new way that people want to be entertained and also obtain information.ā

The actress and scientist says the podcast has allowed her to explore ideas that donāt always fit neatly into one category.

āIām very grateful to stand at that intersection of science and spirituality and information and entertainment,ā she says. āIāve been working since I was 11-years-old, so, in many ways, this is a really lovely way to work because it allows me also to keep learning and to keep growing.ā
That openness is also what made Kudrow such a natural guest.
Bialik says she and cohost Jonathan Cohen arenāt afraid to explore topics that might sound unusual at first, as long as they can approach them with curiosity.

āItās been a very gratifying extension of my life as a public person of science,ā she says.
And while Bialik has welcomed plenty of big names to the podcast, including Dustin Hoffman and Ben Stiller, she admits choosing a favorite guest is nearly impossible.
āItās like being asked to pick, you know, your favorite Elvis Costello album or your favorite child,ā Bialik says when asked if she has a favorite podcast guest or episode.
Still, Kudrowās appearance is clearly high on the list.
āThatās probably one of my most recent favorites,ā Bialik says.
The actress isnāt slowing down when it comes to bringing unexpected conversations to the podcast, either. Bialik says the show recently welcomed its first guest who described himself as an alien abductee, Chris Bledsoe, opening up yet another unusual avenue of discussion.
āWeāre really pushing the boundaries in a lot of places about whatās acceptable to talk about,ā she says. āWhat are people afraid to talk about? What can we learn from the places where those questions meet?ā
