Martina Navratilova reacted pointedly after Euphoria actor Hunter Schafer revealed she underwent bottom surgery.

Schafer admitted to undergoing gender-affirming surgery last December. Speaking to Elle magazine, the 27-year-old revealed that she underwent lower body surgery that changes a person’s genitals to better align with their gender identity. She also reflected on her evolving understanding of her gender identity.

In the interview, Schafer admitted that she had previously had a more flexible understanding of her gender identity. However, over time, she was sure of identifying as a woman and decided that gender-affirming surgery was the right choice for her.

“I just had bottom surgery in December, which was amazing, and I love it so much,” Schafer said while revealing the surgery. “I’m a woman. I’m a girl,” she added.

Martina Navratilova took a jab at her, writing:

“A 27-year-old girl? Who knew?”

Schafer will next be seen alongside Michelle Yeoh in the Amazon miniseries Blade Runner 2099.

Martina Navratilova reacts to WNBA clarifying statement on ‘Women’ definition

Martina Navratilova recently reacted to the WNBA’s clarification on the definition of “women” amid ongoing debate about transgender athletes’ participation in the league. Indiana Rep. Marlin Stutzman demanded a definition from WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert after ex-NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White were declared ineligible to enter the 2027 WNBA draft.

Engelbert responded to Stutzman, while highlighting the league’s definition of “women.” The letter stated that only biological women are eligible to compete in the league, and that Freedom and White are both men.

“With respect to your questions regarding eligibility, only women are eligible to play in the WNBA, and the individuals you cite in your letter are both men,” the letter read. “The WNBA will continue its efforts to ensure the safety, fair treatment, and well-being of our players and personnel, including working to address the significant amount of hate and vitriol directed at WNBA players online and on social media.”

Martina Navratilova appreciated the WNBA’s clarification but questioned how the league would differentiate between someone who is transgender and someone pretending to be one.

“Good to know… but how do you tell the real trans from not real trans? Or just no trans, period? What say you @WNBA”

Martina Navratilova also expressed her dissent after XX-XY Athletics founder Jennifer Sey received derogatory remarks from Valkyries fans during the WNBA Finals.
