Mission: Impossible star Ving Rhames was reportedly taken to the hospital on Wednesday, April 29, after suffering a health scare while eating at a Los Angeles restaurant

The 66-year-old has since headed home and is doing better, his manager assured USA Today and Variety

Mission: Impossible actor Ving Rhames is reportedly recovering following a health scare this week.

On Wednesday, April 29, Rhames, 66, had been eating at a Los Angeles restaurant with his family when he collapsed at the table, TMZ reported.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) confirmed that paramedics had responded to an incident regarding a 66-year-old male in North Hollywood, Calif., at around 1:40 p.m. local time on Wednesday, USA Today reported. The male was “treated and transported” for medical care, the outlet stated.

Rhames has since been released from the hospital and was “on his way home” on Wednesday evening, Variety reported, citing the actor's manager, Brad Kramer.

“He sounded like everyday Ving and cracked a joke over the phone,” Kramer told the outlet. He added that the star — who is the only actor aside from Tom Cruise to appear in all eight Mission: Impossible films — felt fine and “sounded like everyday Ving.”

Kramer told USA Today that he'd spoken to Rhames on the phone shortly after he was hospitalized, stating that he seemed like his usual self and had even made “a humorous remark.” He "feels fine," Kramer added to the publication.

Kramer also told the outlet that Rhames "may have been overheated" at the time of his health scare.

PEOPLE has reached out to Kramer and the Los Angeles Fire Department for additional information, but didn't immediately hear back.

As well as starring as computer hacker Luther Stickell in all of the Mission: Impossible movies, Rhames has also appeared in films such as 1994's Pulp Fiction, 1999's Bringing Out the Dead, 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, and many more.

His upcoming projects include starring in the movie The Mongoose, alongside Liam Neeson and Marisa Tomei. He's also starring in the upcoming flick Painter, alongside Walton Goggins and Amber Midthunder.
