Some of YouTube's biggest names made a super big impact at a special gathering this week.
On Wednesday, April 29, Disney and Make-A-Wish hosted a superhero-themed event at Disneyland Resort, where children facing critical illnesses had their wishes come true at Disneyland Resort's Avengers Campus. The kids were joined by popular content creators like MrBeast, Mark Rober, Clix, Dude Perfect, PrestonPlayz and Sam & Colby. At one point, Captain America himself, actor Anthony Mackie, surprised kids alongside Mickey and Minnie!
However, the online personalities didn't just make an appearance during the Marvel-inspired festivities. They spent the day hanging out with the children and their families, surprising them and participating in various activities, a concept conceived by MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson.

Donaldson, 27, has granted many Make-A-Wish wishes for fans over the course of his viral career. He would often invite some of the kids to his studio, where they'd get a tour and get to watch him film a mock MrBeast video. Eventually, the YouTube star had an idea to make the experience even more special by expanding the experience even more, so he reached out to Disney Parks leadership.
"I was like, 'Hey, what if instead of giving them a tour of Beast Studio, we get my wishes together at Disneyland? And on top of that, what if we invite all the other creators who have a lot of Wishes there?'" Donaldson tells PEOPLE of the inspiration behind the event. "So the Wishes not only get to meet their favorite creators, but all their others — their second, their third, their fourth, fifth, sixth favorite creator — in the most magical place on earth."
Dude Perfect's Tyler Toney, 37, Cory Cotton, 38, and Coby Cotton, 38, tell PEOPLE that they wanted the kids to feel like they were part of their comedy group for the day. They invited attendees to partake in some fan-favorite games from their channel, like their basketball trick shots and water bottle flips.
"[We] just set up a bunch of that stuff, had some competitions with the kids, did a 'Dudes versus Dads' with the kids, which was a lot of fun. They enjoyed that one," Toney recalls, adding that they also hosted a Q&A.

While Dude Perfect certainly granted some wishes on Wednesday, Coby notes that they all came away from the event realizing that spending quality time with the kids was "even more impactful" on them.
"We all have kids ourselves, and we've just realized you would do absolutely anything for your kids," Coby says. "To watch these families who are going through a really difficult time ... showcase so much courage and joy and just to be able to play a small part in that is just one of the main reasons we love Make-A-Wish and getting to be a part of it."

Donaldson echoes the sentiment as he tells PEOPLE about what it meant to spend the day at Disneyland.
"Obviously, I think we can all agree that seeing a kid suffer or deal with some unfair sickness is just heartbreaking," he says. "To be able to give them a day where they don't have to think about that — where they're just smiling ear to ear, they're super happy, their parents are outside of the hospital room and get to just be happy with them — is obviously the best part."
The philanthropist adds, "It's just making them happy and helping them be distracted and just have a good time and realize life is fun."
